Aureum Hospitality Advisers works with plenty of clients who have a strong moral compass, and that’s no accident. When you build your business on the foundation of kindness, good things tend to follow. That’s why I like to surround myself with brands like Eggscellent, a wholesale egg distributor in Cambodia’s countryside who knows the pros of a community-forward mentality and shows this with their egg donation programme.
Eggscellent’s Mission
Prior to the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, Eggscellent worked in tandem with high-end restaurants and hotels across the Siem Reap and Phnom Penh regions. They delivered their eggs on the promise that the chickens were free range, the eggs didn’t have any nasty chemicals and the labourers who harvested them were treated fairly. (Their motto of “happy chickens, better eggs, fair jobs” didn’t come from nowhere.)
This mission hasn’t altered — but with so many of Eggscellent’s hospitality partners closed for the time being, their output has shifted. That’s where the egg donation programme comes into play.
Eggscellent’s Egg Donation Programme
Through their donation programme, Eggscellent seeks to remind local businesses of the Cambodians who are hurting and hungry during this time. Everyone’s had a rough go of it — some more than others — and they hope they can use their spare stock to organise a system to feed the nation’s hungry.
With food shortages abounding, the brand has pivoted to a non-profit model, putting the humanitarian focus of their business at the forefront.
In order to keep their farm open and their workers employed, they’ve temporarily reduced their prices on eggs. Individuals, businesses and communities can invest in these eggs for themselves or donate them to those who need them most. Whether you prefer to serve the community on your own accord or have Eggscellent distribute the products is up to you.
Here’s the rundown on the exclusive and limited egg donation programme prices:
More than 300 eggs: 480 Riel / egg + Packaging Costs
Up to 300 eggs: 500 Riel / egg + Packaging Costs
As for paying, you can hand Eggscellent cash during pickup or you can pay with credit. If you choose the credit route, monthly payments are allowed (they’ll send an invoice via email when the time comes for you to pay).
Bank transfers are also allowed, and can be sent to the following: ABA Bank, David Keller 001 142 375
To reach out to Eggscellent, simply call or contact them on WhatsApp/LINE (in KH/EN) at 092 40 80 10.
They’ll work with you to determine your needs and figure out which options best suit you. This includes arranging the logistics behind delivery and pickup schedule, too.
Partnering with Eggscellent is a simple way to do some good for the Cambodian community. In the short term, you’ll help to feed folks who are experiencing drastic food shortages. In the long term, you’ll help to keep workers employed and a social enterprise thriving.
A Reminder of Nature’s Medicine
Nature has a funny way of providing the full spectrum of nutrition for humans, so long as we know where to look. Because of their nutritional makeup, eggs happen to be the perfect superfood for this crisis. A single egg contains 13 essential vitamins and minerals as well as 5-6 grams of protein. Clearly, they’re called nature’s vitamin pill for a reason.
This isn’t like a food that’s made on a production line. It’s simple, honest and pure. And Eggscellent delivers it in its most wholesome form. For that, I’m proud to have them on the Aureum Hospitality Advisers team.
