In my experience running a business, it’s typically felt much more natural to invest in products or services that I could see right in front of me. Things like website development or virtual assistance had quantifiable results. The proof was in the pudding. But when a friend of mine gave me the opportunity to experience an abstract service, transformative coaching, he piqued my interest. At the time, the coaching journey was completely new to me. I had never really thought about taking coaching sessions, nor had I ever researched it. All in all, I was a complete newbie, but curiosity found its way.
The Coaching Lowdown
My friend Oky of Jugo Consultancy reached out to me to try coaching session. From the get-go, he said that his transformative coaching practice can lead to greater self-awareness and boosted confidence, among other perks.
I started weekly calls with him, the ultimate objective being for me to learn how to “let things go” and how to be more direct in business situations. We came up with this goal together after discussing my personal history, life experiences and aspirations.
Each session was 45 minutes long, so it wasn’t a major chunk out of my day (and the fact that it was remote was super helpful, as I didn’t have to spend time commuting). After we finished the first session, Oky let me onto a cool online coaching platform. There, I could set tasks for myself, journal and visualise my progress.
Progress Is a Part of the Process
Honestly, I thought it would take a long time to get results. It seemed like one of those things that took time to get moving, let alone for me to actualise any transformation. In reality, I noticed progress after just two sessions.
As a transformative coach, Oky was not just professional, but also patient. He was always asking the right questions and hearing more than just the answers. It didn’t take long for him to figure out how to guide me in the right direction by letting me explore other points of view.
Noteworthy Results for a More Confident Career Woman
As a career woman who’s also a new mom, I can attest that my aspirations have always been pretty high. However, there were definitely times that I didn’t stand up for myself as much as I wanted or held onto things that ended up weighing me down.
Now, I’m way more confident in communication and correspondence. I’ve also improved my time management skills along the way, which is an invaluable asset in helping balance my professional and personal life. I still use Oky’s tips, tricks and wisdom today.
With most of the world in lock-down and the majority of people working from home, now is the ideal time to work on your self-confidence and start transformative coaching sessions.
Coaching may not be for everyone, but if you find the right coach to guide you to a better place in your life, there’s no doubt that transformation will happen.
